Closeup tour of Worldbuilders Central…part one.

Hi, and welcome to Worldbuilders! A few of you might follow us on Twitter (we’re worldbuilders_ if you want to find us, by the way), so you may have seen how we decided to display the awesome Stabby Award we got from Reddit r/fantasy.

Nothin’ but the best.

We’ve only been in this building a couple years, but we’ve managed to accumulate random stuff. This will be the start of the tour, and we’ll continue in later blogs (we don’t want you to get bored!). So for now, here’s one of the front offices…

Maria, Rachel, and Brett all share one office that’s about the size of a small dorm room. It’s odd they haven’t destroyed each other yet, but it could be the fact that each of them a) faces a wall and b) gets to bedeck their workspace with personal delights because they’re weird, geeky packrats that way. If you take a closer look at Rachel’s desk, you might discover what one of her all-time favorite Pixar movies is…

It’s the one that rips your heart out and makes you cry. No, the other one.

Maria’s desk is mostly business, because Maria is mostly business. Her singing pig is still there, as are a few random things we threw on her desk as jokes. We didn’t expect her to keep them but she did, which means we get to prank her more often.

That’s Brett’s cat Murder, some dead flowers, and a weird dog/alpaca thing Brett made out of packing peanuts.

Brett’s desk is no better. The Altoids tins on the window sill are mostly due to Maria, who won’t keep them on her desk, even though she’s the only one who eats them. She prefers to ask Brett very politely for two at a time, unless she’s feeling sassy.

The sassy request is, “Mint me!”

Since this is a commercial building, one of the restrooms is supposed to be the men’s room and one the ladies’. We don’t really care, and since the mens’ room is the one by all the offices, that gets the most traffic. The week we moved in, Pat went to an educational supply store in town and bought classroom posters to hang all over the office when we were gone on the weekend. Being Pat, he spent some time thinking about which posters to hang where for maximum effect. We were surprised and delighted Monday morning, but took most of them down, since we needed the wall space for shelves. Pat was crushed, even though we left up a few of the best.

Someone’s watching you.

Nobody uses the urinal. It’s just too weird now.

Anyway, we’ll leave you with that indelible image to haunt your dreams. Don’t worry, we’ll continue the tour soon!
