Carol Berg will critique up to 6,000 words of your manuscript and/or synopsis!

Epic fantasy author Carol Berg is offering a read and critique of the opening pages of your manuscript and an optional short synopsis (up to 6000 words total), providing feedback on opening, characters, setting, structure, and mechanical issues. This isn’t a copyedit or anything, but she will give you advice on how to refine and polish your opening.

Carol Berg is a writer of epic fantasy and fantasy adventure with seventeen published novels in six different worlds. Though she makes her home in the foothills of the Colorado Rockies, she has lived a large portion of her life in the realms of mystery and adventure: Middle Earth, Camelot, Amber, Wonderland, Harry Dresden’s Chicago, Jim Chee’s New Mexico, Cheltenham race track or the colleges of Oxford, Victorian London, Cold War Berlin, the Welsh borderlands, River Heights, a Marvel-ous Hell’s Kitchen…you get the drift.

Carol studied mathematics at Rice University and software engineering at the University of Colorado, but a few years into a career as a software engineer, a friend and co-worker coerced her into a hobby of writing her own fiction. Never did she imagine that she would become a three-time winner of the Colorado Book Award or see her name in the winners’ list of the Mythopoeic Fantasy Award for Adult Literature, alongside Mary Stewart, JRR Tolkien, and her other literary heroes.

Carol’s newest work is the fantasy-adventure Chimera series, written under the name of her new best friend, Cate Glass. She calls it “Mission Impossible meets my version of the Italian Renaissance with magic.” The Chimera’s newest intrigue, A Conjuring of Assassins, will be out from Tor Books in February 2020. Carol lives, writes, and teaches writing in Colorado.
