The End is Nigh!
This is it!
Today is the last day of our 2015 annual fundraiser, and there are still some matching funds left. If we reach $1,225,000, we’ll use it up, so there’s still a little time to double your donation and turn one goat into two!
It’s been a wild fundraiser this year. First of all, we can’t believe we casually mentioned $1,225,000 like it’s an everyday total. That’s over a million dollars. ONE MILLION DOLLARS. We’ve been proud to say that over the past eight years we’ve raised $3.5 million. This year, you guys said, “That’s cute,” and donated 30% of our eight year total in a month and a half.
When we say you’re the best, we’re not just blowing smoke, and if this year’s fundraiser isn’t proof of your bestitude, you have scary standards.
You joined us to #BilboItUp, and that means the world to us.
If you’re still not satisfied with your own coolness, but you have more ugly sweaters than money, throw on a sweater and snap a selfie. Share your selfie on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram with the hashtag #GiveHeifer, and Heifer gets $5. We’re not even kidding. It’s Ugly Sweater Day, and every five bucks helps. Take to the social medias!
If these animals can do it, so can you!
Apart from raising a crazy amount of money for Heifer International, we reached a whole ton of stretch goals! We got a preview of John Green’s next novel (sort of), we got to hear Neil Gaiman sing, we watched Karen Hallion create a masterpiece, and Peter Orullian sing the best, most spoilery cover of Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody. Pat read to Cutie (or the other way around). Heifer made the cutest promo ever. And we got tangled up in the Dr. Seuss classic Fox in Socks. Yup. Every. Single. Time.
There were many more stretch goals than this (like drunken erotica…wink wink), contributed by our awesome friends who kick in every year and actively recruit more folks to do weird stuff for our amusement.
And then there’s the stories. These are your stories, and you guys are what drives this entire roller coaster. Follow the link. Read them. We’ll wait.
In the mean time, we all got our employee reviews, and this is the scene we walked into:
The management staff on the Horns. Daunting.
Seriously. Dark room, semicircle table with a chair in the middle under a spotlight. They went all out.
That’s it. We’re going to grab a break for a few days next week, then we’ll be back in the office to pull names out of a hat and start mailing out all the awesome stuff from our Lottery Library.
As soon as we can wake Trina up.
We’ll be happy to see all of these cool books, games, and collectibles head out the door, because it’s all going out to the folks who helped us raise over a million dollars in six weeks. You are our favorite people, and we love you.
