Happy 2016!
The Worldbuilders office is closed today, so we’re not really sure why we’re posting a blog entry. There isn’t any news, now that the annual fundraiser is over–actually, now that the entire annus is over (stop giggling–it means “year”).
Here, look at this cat instead.
Keeping with the sudden Latin lesson, 2015 has been an annus mirabilisfor Worldbuilders. We debuted a few new products during our IndieGoGo campaign, we ran a successful campaign to raise money for Syrian refugees, and when the annual fundraiser rolled around, we utterly stomped every previous year by raising over $1.2 million for Heifer International.
We keep saying “we.” We actually mean “you.” Sure, it’s the Worldbuilders fundraiser, but we’re just the cheerleaders. We try to organize a bash that’s fun, interesting, engaging, and educational. You guys bring the snacks. You’re the folks stepping up to lay down your hard-earned cash to help people here and abroad pull themselves out of poverty and forge a better life for themselves and for future generations.
This isn’t a “royal we.” We’re a team, the nine of us (currently not) in this office, and the thousands of you guys who constantly amaze us with how positive and generous you are.
We want to let you know that when we go on and on about how great Worldbuilders supporters are, and how much we love everybody who contributes everything from books to games to money to time, we mean it. You guys make this the best job in the world.
So with 2016 happening tomorrow, start the new year right. Take a look at yourself from our point of view, and know that you are exactly the sort of person this world needs. You made 2015 awesome, and you’ll make 2016 even better.
