Christmas quilts!
You may have heard of our volunteer Tracy, who is directly responsible for all the violence in the office because she gave us NERF guns one Christmas season. We love Tracy, and her partner in crime, Alisha, because they’re a little crazy. We run into them at cons (when they’re not volunteering for us), they cosplay like crazy, and of course, we see them every so often when we need a couple extra pairs of hands for perk fulfillment or holiday shipping. Their geek cred is strong.
This year, Tracy made the awesome, life-sized TARDIS quilt we auctioned off. We don’t know how much time and energy she put into it, but whomever won that quilt got a bargain.
With a week to go in the 2015 fundraiser, Tracy and Alisha stopped by the office to help package things in the Tinker’s Packs, and when we broke for lunch, apparently “Santa” visited…
We’ll let the photos do the talking.
There were gifts. Big gifts. We were confused, but flattered.
Maria opened hers first. There was one for her, and one for the baby.
Amanda’s was purple. Shocker.
Adam got one for himself and his new wife (his wife was not a Christmas gift).
Jeff had problems figuring out that the box had a lid to lift off. His quilt? Blue plaid, of course.
Rachel’s was Toothless. Literally, and figuratively, because dragons.
Trina’s was tie-dyed. You may have caught it in last week’s post.
Brett’s had a pinwheel pattern, with fabric designed by Tracy’s favorite designer.
Mindy’s was rich earth tones with leaves reminiscent of a certain fantasy novel we enjoy.
Nicole opened hers last–she got a “small” version of the TARDIS quilt!
So this was our pre-Christmas Christmas. Thank you so much Tracy and Alisha for creating and wrapping a dozen quilts between NerdCon: Stories (where Tracy announced to Alisha her master plan, and Alisha told her gently but firmly that she was nuts) and the last week of the fundraiser.
Tracy with her creations.
Alisha is the master wrapper.
We hope everybody has a warm, colorful holiday, no matter what or when you celebrate. Thank you all for helping us bring warmth and color into the lives of folks all over the world. This is the best job ever.
